UN Report Documents Violations of International Humanitarian Law: Over 260 Children Killed in Lebanon Since March 2026

By Department of Legal Analysis and Research – Jathwa Center for Training and Legal Studies

Latest UNICEF data documents the killing of at least 261 children and the injury of over 1,056 in Lebanon since March 2026, establishing key evidence of violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The latest data issued by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reports severe civilian and child casualties, as well as extensive material destruction in Lebanon, resulting from ongoing Israeli attacks.

Recorded Human Casualties:

The UN agency documented the killing of at least 261 children and the injury of more than 1,056 others across various Lebanese regions since March 2026.

Humanitarian and Strategic Warning:

UNICEF alerted the international community to the continuous escalation of the humanitarian crisis, highlighting the immediate risks threatening the future of children, youth, and the national education system.

These official figures and documented accounts serve as a primary legal reference confirming violations of International Humanitarian Law—most notably the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War and the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child. This critical situation underscores the urgent need to activate international accountability mechanisms to protect the most vulnerable populations during armed conflicts.
