Jathwa in brief

Jathwa is a center for legal & strategic studies and training, dedicated to advancing legal awareness, human rights, strategic understanding and the empowerment of young professionals, journalists, researchers and civil-society actors.

Jathwa works through two complementary sections, reflecting the core of the Center's work: producing knowledge on the one hand, and building capacities and skills on the other.

Mission

Jathwa's mission is to make legal and strategic knowledge accessible, practical and empowering. Through education, training, documentation and public engagement, Jathwa works to strengthen awareness of rights, develop the capacities of young professionals and journalists, and contribute to a more informed and resilient society.

Vision

A society in which individuals understand their rights, young professionals are equipped to contribute meaningfully to public life, and reliable legal and strategic knowledge informs how communities understand and respond to the challenges around them.

Explore our work

The Legal & Human Rights Section

Jathwa's Legal & Human Rights Section is concerned with producing, documenting and analysing legal and human-rights knowledge, with strengthening awareness of law and human rights, and with making specialised knowledge available in a form that is clear, reliable and open to understanding and application. The section focuses on questions of human rights, international law, fundamental rights and freedoms, conflict-related developments, alleged violations, and the legal and human-rights issues that affect individuals, communities and the most vulnerable groups.

The Training & Professional Empowerment Section

Jathwa's Training & Professional Empowerment Section is concerned with developing the capacities of individuals and professionals, strengthening their knowledge and skills, and providing learning and development opportunities that enable them to improve their performance, advance their professional paths, engage effectively in their fields of work, and contribute to public life.
